Quitting Smoking!!

Hello again,

Todays topic is not about makeup, nor clothing. It's about something that for a long time I was embarrassed to say I do. Now I don't do it I am open to talking about it entirely!!!

I quit.

Simple as that?

YES!

I have to say it's one of the best things I have done, it also wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. This is my first attempt at quitting and I am on day 23! I have been around smokers and around booze which I'm sure we all know is a catalyst to a social cig!

I have managed to avoid all of these temptations with the use of my cheeky vape pen. I LOVE IT. So many people have said "that's not really giving up" but in my opinion it is. I no longer inhale carbon monoxide, no tar, no smoke, no smells.

I bought my pen online, they're everywhere and if you are going to buy one you do not need an expensive one. I resisted buying one for such a long time because it all looked so complex but essentially just make sure it has a good battery, mine is 650mAh which in English equates to: the battery lasts me all day.

Liquids.... Arghhhh.

What a nightmare, if you buy them online they often don't have nicotine so watch out. I am on the lowest nicotine I could find which is 16mg I think. I use menthol because I smoked menthol cigarettes but you can get all kinds of flavours (I also have chocolate and vanilla, I got sucked in. What can I say?)

They range from £2-£10 roughly online but I have found them in a surprising yet wonderful place known as the 99p store!

Hoorah, so I can have a liquid that is 1/7th of the price of cigarettes and lasts 5 times as long!

I have found that vape pens have really helped me and I will slowly stop using the pen over time but trust me if I can do it, you can! I have no will power whatsoever!!!

Let me know how you get on :)

Anxiety and Depression

Hi there!

I know I haven't posted in a while, so much has been going on which I won't go into but I wanted to say hey and talk about a few things I have been struggling with of recent.

Blogging and viewing other bloggers videos has shown me how many people suffer with these issues (mental health). It has definitely made me feel more normal having such issues.

I have had depression since the age of 13 and for the life of me I could not tell you why. All i know is, it subsides and then comes back whenever it fancies. I have had counselling before which didn't help me and now I am on a few tablets to sort me out.

I guess I just wanted to say, it is nothing to be scared of. My friends think I am the strongest person around but deep down inside everyone will feel down sometimes. It is not something to hide or be embarrassed of. I promise.

Things that have helped me when I have been struggling...
1. Don't stay in bed, even if you are staying in the house all day. Get dressed, get your makeup on and then you will have already achieved something!

2. Don't look at facebook, instagram etc unless you know it will make you happy. It is very easy when you are down to look at social media and think that everyones life is better than yours. It's not. They just don't post the crappy stuff.

3. Don't do anything you don't want to. Now I say this loosely, you still need to tidy your room and make your bed but don't let people put you in situations until you are ready. You need to let them know why you don't want to so they can understand for next time.

You are not going to feel like anyone understands you when you are down but trust me it gets better, let people try and understand and they might be able to help.

Oh and tea makes everything better :) x

Let's Talk Products!

Hi there internet friends!

Today I thought I'd run you through a few of my favourite products and link them for you too so you can try them for yourself!

MAC fix + Setting Spray:
What MAC say "An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!"

What I say "This spray is so good for fixing makeup, it makes your skin feel so fresh and gives a beautiful dewy look, I always finish my makeup with it, great for use on a hot day too and at £14.50 I really don't think you can go wrong because it lasts for ages!"

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara:

What Max Factor say " Looking for a false-lash look without the fuss? Our special formula doubles your volume* from root to tip for false-lash impact. *Thickness volume, appearance vs bare lashes"

What I say "This mascara is pretty much incredible, it makes your lashes look super thick and they go so long without looking spidery. You can apply less for a subtle almost natural look, or more for drama! It's not claggy or sticky and is so easy to remove. I've bought this at least four times now and will never go back!"

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Primer:

What MAC say "An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder."

What I say "This Primer is brilliant and has lasted me ages. It stops my skin looking so red and reduces the look of my pores. My skin is quite oily and it reduces that, you should always prime before applying makeup as it creates a layer between your skin and the product, not just that, it creates a smooth base to apply makeup so it looks so flawless!"

MAC Prep + Prime Lip Primer:

What MAC say "A colour-free base to wear under lipstick. Adds light moisture, smoothes and refines the lips. Improves the appearance of applied lip products."

What I say "This primer is totally ACE and necessary for a few matte MAC lipsticks. When I use Ruby Woo without the primer it flakes and crumbles which isn't sexy! With the primer it is so easy to apply and stays so much longer. I was always dubious about lip primer, thought it was a bit excessive but now I am converted and LOVE it!"

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation:

What NARS say "A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother."

What I say "This is a superb foundation used on recommendation from Zoella! It is a liquid foundation so it lasts quite a while and isn't too heavy on your skin, it gives awesome coverage and with 19 shades you can get a really specific colour for your skin tone, It's not shiny but dewy and doesn't dry out your skin. I think it's a must have!"

What L'oreal say "An intense graphic eyeliner, with a striking black pigment that lasts for 8 hours. Inspired to re-create a catwalk look, with the thickest liner yet.An error proof, smooth guide, easy to use marker pen."

What I say "This eyeliner is FOOL PROOF! Yes you heard me, it has such a soft felt tip that it glides on like a dream and is so easy due to the thickness to keep a straight line. When I discovered this eyeliner I was singing from the rooftops. It;s thick and intense colour gives such a great look and you don't have o be dramatic with it, applied lightly you can achieve an amazing cats eye."

Sleek Contouring Kit:

What Sleek say "A duo compact with a contour powder perfect for contouring cheekbones and a shimmer highlighter perfect for illuminating your face giving you that perfect flawless finish.Face Contour Kit in Medium is ideal for medium skin tones."

What I say "This kit is such a great way to get into contouring! It's super easy to use and comes with instructions. It's also really cheap! The darker powder is matte and the highlighter is shimmery (which I love). The only slight issue I have with this is I don't use much of the bronzer but more highlighter so I wish there were equal amounts of both, but either way for the money it is FAB!"

My Everyday Look...

My everyday look tends to be quite understated. 40's, Zooey Deschanel-esque chic. I love winged eyeliner not over dramatic, not too much black. Just enough to accentuate my lashes. I like to have full lashes and I find that using non waterproof mascara is kinder on my eyes and gives more volume as it's less claggy.

In terms of my skin, initially I will moisturise, then prime. From there I go to town! Applying my concealer usually under my eyes, in the crease of my nostrils and down my nose, then any imperfections (which on some days can take a while!)

We then contour! This is the fun bit, I use a very simple contouring technique which comprises of: highlight under eyes, along the length of my nose, my chin and my jaw line. I would do my forehead but due to my fringe I don't. Once your highlighting is complete we now contour with our bronzer. I work in a motion of 3, starting at my temples I run the brush in a 3 shape. So 1.Temples. 2. Dips of cheeks (after sucking them in like a fishy!) 3. Under the jaw line. Remember to blend!!!

I then use a pinky blush for the apples of my cheek for a cold bitten look.

Eyebrows next, using a powder and a sharp edged brush, fill those bad boys in! I find powder far easier you have more application control and more control when removing if a mistake is made.

On my lips I like to use something moisturising and often with a pop of colour. Like a clinique chubby stick. Or for ultra moisture use a lip primer then a high pigmented lipstick.

To finish off my makeup and so I don't have to worry I always finish with a setting spray.

With my hair I like my fringe to be full but to look a little "undone". I want to look pretty yet effortless, so I sweep it to the side slightly. Then for my signature "messy bun" I put my hair into a pony tail first and pull it out slightly so the hair is slightly fallen before putting it into its bun.

And voila my everyday look, perfectly teamed with a collared blouse, skater skirt, faux fur cape and ankle boots. Feel like a million dollars (because you are!)

Let's Talk Fragrance!

As we've now hit 2014 I wanted to tell you about a few of my fave fragrances from 2013!

I am a bit of a perfume nut and seeing as it is still winter I think wearing a good fragrance is one of the best ways to lift your mood!

The power of scent is paramount! I never feel fully "done" until I have had a spritz, so in no order of preference here are my favourites:

1. Ed Hardy… I was bought this fragrance 4 years ago by my boyfriend and I have to say, I Love It! It's a sweet fruity fragrance that's quite light but still has staying power! This is probably one of my favourites because it reminds me of our first christmas together!

2. Narcissco Rodriguez… I hope I spelt that right! This fragrance aptly named "for her" is such a sophisticated scent. It's slightly musky with floral under tones and a slightly sweet smell. I always wear this for going out. It's a grown up scent and unfortunately isn't cheap! So this is normally bought as a main gift and I try to use as little as possible to make it last!

3. Paco Rabanne… Lady Million. I got my first whiff of this beauty when working at SuperDrug and instantly fell in love! It has such a feminine smell to it, it's sweet and light and makes me feel twirly! I have to be honest it doesn't have great staying power. I have found a slightly cheaper dupe in Carolina Herrera's 212 VIP which is ever so slightly less sweet but almost exactly the same!

4. Gucci… Guilty, I'm guilty! Guilty of finding the perfume a must! Again it has a sweet fragrance but is slightly more sophisticated than the last and makes me feel like a grown up! Plus the bottle is very pretty!

5. Lolita Lempicka… I first discovered this fragrance in NY 2007. Someone gave me a tester and fell in love since, I looked all over for years and eventually found it online, the bottle is to die for and the scent is just dreamy not too sweet, not too musky, not too floral, just fab!
